G wanted to have a party that was different than any she had ever been to before. She loves candy & loves playing this game, so this was what she came up with for her 5th birthday.
"Candyland"
The Birthday girl
The main party room- full of candy, color, and a 'live' gameboard.
She has brother's support on this one!
A fun area for the kids to hang out & the gift table
I described these ideas to my talented mom (G's Noni). She proceeded to create them while we were on vacation! I LOVED them! They were a standout of the party.
She made this too. Love, love!
(She made the coordinating tutu that G wore to the party, too.)
The "Welcome to Candyland" banner
Some of the candy on the candy tables
Left: I bought a (BPA free) water bottle for each child. At the party, they carried them through the 'live Candyland game,' filling them with candy along the way.
Right: Again, I described the idea of these giant lollipops to my mom, and she created them! The swirl is cut from a piece of scrapbook paper, the stick is a giant pixie stick type candy, and she tied the bow with tulle to match.
The food table in the other room.
The kids' picnic tables
Mostly, we used rainbow or solid colored items to decorate. However I 'splurged' and bought the following actual Candyland-themed items: cups for the kids & plates.
We needed a little 'health' mixed into this sugar-laden party. Ha!
Mini Rainbow Fruit Kabobs
Left: Mini brownies and (should-be-world-famous, best-you'll-ever-eat) chocolate chip cookies, made by my Grandma (G's Great Grandma).
Right: Candy on the 'cake table.'
My sister-in-law, Deana, volunteered several hours helping us with the party.
She was such a huge help and made it all so fun!
Drinks were 'rainbow' colored Gatorades.
Some of the crew eating
Publix baked & decorated a delicious cake!
(I can't bake - trust me, it's BAD- but I did get to design the cake and choose all the colors, etc.)
I was really happy with it.
Somebody likes their cake!
One of the coolest thing about this location is that we had access to 3 rooms for the party. A large 'party room,' an indoor playground room, and the food/cake room. The kids LOVED the playground!
G, K, and a couple of her school friends 'rock climbing'
Most of the mini-attendees. Such sweet, fun friends!
Time to open gifts!
Earrings for her newly pierced ears!
She loves Doc McStuffins!
And, it appears she knows what this is for!!!
An awesome gift from her grandparents, Noni & Popi:
a real balance beam to practice gymanstics!
Can't wait to get it set up...only now to find the space!
One of my FAVORITES of the party.
Hiding her eyes for her 'big gift' from Mommy, Daddy, & K...
A big girl bike like she wanted!
Best parts about this bike: the baby doll seat in the back...and the basket in the front.
I wasn't sure about the size, but it worked out perfectly. She rode it around the room immediately!
Time to play Candyland!
We had a few awesome volunteers to help hand out candy as the kids got to the 'candy' pink square.
Ready to go.
Game in progress. Kids each have a chocolate, foil-wrapped candy coin. They toss it and move to the square it lands on. They fill bottles with candy as they pass the pink squares.
Kids take it all home. Parents hate me.
Haha, sorry!
This was a really fun party to throw. I know G & K had a great time; hopefully, the other kids did too!
However, it was a LOT of work. I'm thinking we're going low-key for #6!
Happy 5th Birthday, little G!
~ 6 in Love ~
