Time to celebrate!
About a month ago (sorry for the summer delay), we celebrated "Father's Day."
We went to church.
And to the pool.
G, K & I surprised Daddy with tons of photos we took for him.
We framed some of the best & gave it as his gift.
Kids, your Daddy is one of a kind. He really is.
He's such an amazing dad. An amazing husband.
An altogether amazing person.
Not only is he incredibly handsome,
but he has great taste too (he chose me. Ha.)
You are so fortunate to have him for a Daddy.
And he would do ANYTHING for you two
(and already for our future 2).He loves you so, so much.
--------------------
Here are some things I want you to know & remember about your Daddy:
He takes you on adventures all the time.
This time: rock climbing, hiking, and an hour long game of tag.
He takes you guys for ice cream.
It's one of your favorite things to do with him.
Heck, he even taught you how to smash ice cream in someone's face.
Payback.
He teaches you things.
And he's not afraid to be silly.
This is him giving you the 'game plan' for
the day's upcoming adventures.
Screams of excitement always follow.
He cheers for you and plays with you.
We go on fun family outings...and he puts up w/ all
of Mommy's photo requests. ;)
He celebrates with you.
Picnics, festivals, and fairs...
He loves to be the one to comfort you when you're sad or hurt.
He takes you on individual "Daddy dates"
Off to adventure once again...
(And he loves to mess with me & say 'I don't know where we're going' so I can't partake in the 'planning.' Little stinker. Guess a dad's gotta do what a dad's gotta do.)
You read together.
(I think this is everyone's favorite)
You explore new places & do new things.
He teaches you to be daring. (aye)
(Let's not focus on the fact we had to rush G to the ER within 3 minutes of taking this picture... )
He dances with you...
...and then lets you backflip off of him...in your fancy dress...
at a wedding.
He's just that kind of Dad. =)
He takes you to the beach. Family vacations have been
everyone's favorite.
You LOVE Daddy's undivided & fun attention!
He works SO hard for you.
He ties your Popi for hardest working men Mommy knows.
(Photo taken on a break during a work trip)
He works hard for the adoption of your future siblings (#3 & #4).
(Photo taken after completing a ton of paperwork)
Daddy works hard. And he works a lot.
But when he's around, he seizes the moments.
And you all 3 soak in every second together.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And I couldn't let Father's Day go by
without a tribute to my wonderful dad!
(Dad, I could hardly find any pics of us on my computer...we're gonna have to fix this!)
Taking it way back:
Sophmore (barely 15 yrs old) Homecoming Court in HS.
He's always been there for me. Always supportive. Always protective. Always guiding, motivating, advising. Always listening. Always fixing. Always learning & encouraging to learn. Always hard working.
Giving away your only daughter can't possibly be easy.
But I'll always be his 'little girl.' ;)
And now, 9 years later, he's so easily & eagerly
embracing his role as "Popi."
The kids can't get enough of him!!
Supportive in all of our adventures.
And excited about two more grandbabies
to get to spoil love on one day.
I can honestly say I couldn't have asked
for a better Dad.
I love you so much!
-------------------------------------------------------------------
This Father's Day was the first without my loving Father in law (My Papi, the kids' Abuelo).
He was an adoring, role model of a dad to Cuban Daddy.
And he immediately embraced me as one of his own.
He was sorely missed as he is everyday, but especially on this day.
I find peace in knowing that he is with THE Father...
and he wouldn't rather be anywhere else.
We love you, Papi!
------------------------------------------------------------
And as I write this tonight, I can't help but think of 'the fatherless.' Those precious children that are His, but have no earthly father to do any of the aforementioned things with them. No earthly father to love them - an undeniable tragedy.
I pray that He be all that they need, now and always. But I also pray that they would receive an earthly father to do this life with.
(I really do pray this often. Would you please join me?)
I am focusing on our two new ones (yet to be placed in our family). I find an amazing amount of joy in thinking of what
a great daddy they are going to have!
Cuban Daddy and I are far from perfect.
But if it's one thing we do right,
it's love our babies.
Hope you all had a Happy Father's Day too!
